Our competition entry for Tikkurila church and parish centre in Vantaa opened the presently introverted block for the public by creating new pedestrian connections and forming new urban courtyards. The high copper clad volume of the church is present in the Tikkurila market square without disturbing the 1950's axis between the old church building and the town hall. The one storey serving spaces are clad in red brick and they unify the block consisting of buildings made of different materials and dating from different eras. The church hall is an archaic dimly lit space for contemplation in the city centre.
