The task was to design different housing typologies for two sites in former industrial areas. We divided our building volumes in modules of three meters and achieved numerous different variations and apartment sizes by pushing in and pulling out the modules in the main mass. In the Jätkäsaari area the buildings were turned in angle to the seashore, allowing long views and creating sheltered terraces and balconies for the houses. The possibility to extend the house by building glass verandas and roof top pavilions provides even more flexibility. |
